Ainoshima Cat Island Excursion 🐈🏝️
Discover Ainoshima through cats, local volunteers, and Japanese animal welfare.
Located near Fukuoka, Ainoshima (相島) is one of Japan’s most famous cat islands and has been recognized by CNN as one of the world’s top cat islands.
However, its popularity has also brought challenges caused by overtourism. Local volunteers have worked to improve the island’s environment, establish guidelines, and care for its cats, creating a balance between tourism, animal welfare, and the daily lives of local residents.
This immersive experience gives you the chance to explore Ainoshima while learning directly from local volunteers.
🐾 Program
Participants will tour the island while taking part in basic volunteer activities for Ainoshima’s cats.
Local volunteers will guide you through everything you need to know about cats and Ainoshima, using simple Japanese or English.
